Her Story: Janille | To Each, Her Own

Her Story: Janille | To Each, Her Own

There's more to all of us than meets the eye.

To Each, Her Own is a celebration of who women actually are — not who they're told to be. Though we decided to use both models and real women in this campaign, they're all women who inspire us with their strength and vulnerability. Our series, Her Story, is a chance to get to know more about them.

Meet one of the six women.

Janille Hill, 36

TL: How would you describe yourself in three words?

JH: “Loyal, exuberant, relational.”

TL: What’s something most people might not assume about you at first glance?

JH: “I am like a Russian nesting doll, I am deeply passionate and dare I say gifted at most things I put my hands to. I’ve dabbled in various things and that have connected to my core values and interests, but may not be related. I am a mother to four young, beautiful, energetic kids, wife of twelve years, certified life coach, compelling and skilled step dance teacher and performer, conversationalist to strangers, obsessive knitter, and extreme couponer. These things are all just within the first doll.”

TL: What quality do you love most about yourself?

JH: “My ability to make almost anyone feel seen. I am open-minded and open- hearted. I strive for authenticity in my relationships, which helps give people the freedom to be who they are.”

TL: When do you feel most beautiful and/or confident?

JH: “Or what do you love most about your appearance? I feel most beautiful when I am naked. Most confident when I trust myself. I love my overall physique.”

TL: What do you love most about your appearance?

JH: “I love my overall physique.”

TL: When and where are you happiest?

JH: “Whenever and wherever my responsibilities are not bearing down on me. Wherever I can be free — the context can change.”

TL: If you could give your younger self advice, what would you tell her?

JH: “You don’t know everything, but don’t let anyone else dictate what you do know and can do. Loving people well is a life-expanding skill, practice it with diligence, knowing that you will never fully grasp it.”

TL: What's the top song on your playlist right now?

JH: “I can’t really say, I listen to a lot of gospel and then random soundtracks that I know fully with my kids.”

TL: What does To Each, Her Own mean to you?

JH: “Let people live their own chosen, best life with concern for and support from the people around them. As a person that believes in the unique gift that we each are to the world, owning who we are and our individuality expands the world around us. I also believe in the vital role that community plays in shaping who we are as individuals.”

TL: What is your motto?

JH: “Love well. Change when necessary. Be courageous. Pursue truth. Live big. Have fun.”
