Read more4 Signs It's Time to Let Go of Your Current Bra
Be honest — how old is your oldest bra? Whether your answer is two years or 10, we’re here to help, not judge (promise).
We totally get that when you find a bra you love, it can be really hard to let it go. But even the most well-made bras show signs of wear, and should probably be replaced every six months to a year, depending on how often you wear them. So how do you know when you should replace your bra? Here are some telling signs it’s time to let go of your old faithfuls and welcome some new bras into your life.
1. Your straps are falling
When you first buy a bra, falling straps are usually a sign that the bra doesn’t fit correctly. But if your straps are falling after months or years of use? It means they’ve lost their elasticity. Elastic is a great material that’s meant to bounce back, but it can only do its job for so long before it can’t take it any longer.
2. You’re wearing your band on the tightest hook
Bras should be worn on the loosest hook so that over time, as your band loses its elasticity, you can tighten it by choosing a tighter hook. However, if you’ve been wearing your band on the tightest hook for a while now, it means all of the elasticity is gone and your band is no longer supporting you as it should.
3. Your cup and band edges are frayed.
When fabric begins to fray around the edges, it means your bra has done its job. Not only is it aesthetically unpleasant, but it could also indicate that your bra is too old to still give you support. Give it a rest before your bra falls apart even more, which brings us to…
4. Wires are popping out.
If your wires start popping out, you need to toss that bra ASAP! Not only is it incredibly uncomfortable, but it’s also a sign that the fabric is too worn to support you anymore. We’ve all been guilty of tucking visible wires back into the bra fabric, but trust us; if wires start to show, it’s time to let go of your bra.
