As a company that’s by women, for women, we’re constantly seeking new ways to spotlight stellar females who inspire us. This series is an opportunity to celebrate the ThirdLove community and share their incredible stories.

Meet Shayda Nematollahi, a mind-body medicine Ph.D. student, psychotherapist, and influencer based in Atlanta, GA.

Read on to learn about Shayda’s passion for helping others and how she practices self-love and self-care.

What inspired you to do what you’re doing now?

From a young age, I knew I wanted to help people and be a positive influence in my community. Oprah was a huge inspiration for me as a young girl, I once saw a psychotherapist on her show and knew from that day on I wanted to help people and raise awareness about mental health! Now I work with women dealing with a variety of issues in the psychotherapy setting. I co-own a private practice with another female entrepreneur (Heal ATL Counseling and Wellness), I specialize in women’s issues, I approach therapy through a holistic framework, taking mind, body, and spirit into account incorporating several modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), hypnotherapy, and mindfulness-based interventions.

I am passionate about empowering women to express themselves and heal through their own creative process. My love for self-care and learning about healing modalities inspired me to continue my education and pursue a doctorate degree in Mind-Body Medicine. As a Ph.D. student, I’m researching self-care, different healing modalities such as breathwork, meditation, and movement in the healing journeys of women.

When do you feel most confident in your skin?

I feel the most confident in my skin when I am aligned with my purpose and vibrating from a place of self-love.

What were your biggest insecurities growing up and how did you overcome them?

My curvy body was my insecurity growing up. I overcame this by fully embracing who I am and learning that my body is more than what appears to the eye. My body is a vessel that holds my spirit and it does so much for me each day. The moment I realized how incredible my body is, was the moment I overcame my insecurities. My relationship with my body changed when I came to appreciate and love it for all that it does and all that is capable of doing. A huge part of that journey was also letting go of comparisons and speaking love into the body instead of picking myself apart.

How do you stay balanced?

I have daily practices and rituals that I prioritize each day. My morning and evening routine include different rituals that support my mind, body, and soul. My self-care practices include lots of meditation, prayer, yoga, journaling, reading, skincare, movement, and breathwork.

What are your proudest accomplishments?

Inner peace and self-love.

What impact do you want to leave on the world?

I want to leave a positive impact on the world through the work I do, the relationships I build, and through my actions/words each day.

What’s next for you?

Finishing my Ph.D., writing a book, and making a baby.

Tell us your ThirdLove story.
