Style Foundations: Julie Lang
Julia Lang is the founder, CEO, and creative director of VEERT, the genderless fashion and jewelry label she built around instinct, healing, and self-expression. Her career has been shaped by trusting what she feels before anyone else can see it — a philosophy that shows up in everything from her brand's debut capsule to the quiet decisions she makes before the world ever sees what she creates.
"The first layer is the one I choose for myself, not for anyone looking at me."
This is what Style Foundations means when it talks about a reset - not a big gesture, but the first layer that goes on before anything else does, quietly setting the tone for everything that follows. For Julia, that idea runs even deeper: before the world sees what she creates, she has to feel like herself. We asked her what that actually looks like, day to day.
What's the foundation of your craft?
"Instinct. I've built my career around trusting what I feel before everyone else can see it."
What's the part that nobody sees?
"The discipline. People see the finished image, but not the hundreds of decisions behind making something feel effortless."

How do you set the tone for your day? What are your rituals?
"Coffee, music, getting dressed. I need a little bit of quiet before the world gets loud."
What's the first layer you put on?
"Something that makes me feel comfortable in my own body. Before the fashion, before the jewelry, before anything anyone else sees."
What does it set up for the rest of your day?
"Confidence, but a quiet kind. When the foundation feels right, I don't have to think about it again. I can focus on everything I'm there to create."

That's the thing about a foundation - it's rarely the part anyone else sees. It's the layer underneath the finished image, the one that has to hold up through every decision that comes after it. For Julia, that layer is her Thirdlove.
