Read moreWhy Is My Bra Gaping At The Top?

There has never been a doubt that women come in all shapes and sizes. Women with breasts that are heavier on the bottom are all too familiar with gaping bra challenges. Frustrated with bras that they never seem to fill in comfortably, it is easy to think that this is just how it will always be for them. We’re here to help you solve this bra-blem! So, why is your bra gaping at the top?
Common Causes of Bra Gaping at the Top
Bra gaping, like any other lingerie challenge, can be boiled down to a few common issues that are easily overlooked. With breasts that are heavier on the bottom, the upper tissue is usually shallow making it more difficult to completely fill in bra cups and resulting in gaping. Women typically assume that there are no other options and end up settling for a poor fitting bra.

Incorrect Cup Size
When a bra is gaping, cup sizes matter. Wrong cup sizes result in bras that are too tight in some areas and gaping in others.
Wrong Bra Style
Large or molded cups are not always the right style for women with bottom heavy breasts. Too often, they are not able to fill the top of the cups and the bra does not properly mold to the torso.
Changes in Breast Shape or Size
Over time breast shape and size can change according to different influences in life, like pregnancy, illness, diet, weight changes and more. As a result, bras that at one time did fit well might now be gaping. Get measured and resized regularly, especially if you are seeing changes in your body.
Strap Adjustment Issues
Bras need to be properly adjusted to fit your personal contours. A simple matter of proper band and strap adjustment could make a world of difference in how your gaping bra sits and is shaped to you.
Bra Wear and Tear
Bras do have a shelf life and it is important to change old worn-out bras that can no longer do the job. Proper support and comfortable fit is necessary if you want your bra to compliment your shape and also stay in place.
How to Fix a Gaping Bra
We’re here to solve all your bra-blems! Take these next few steps to find a bra that fits perfectly and doesn’t gape.
Measure Your Size Regularly
Fit matters and you need to know your numbers. Get professionally sized in person or take our easy Fit Finder Quiz online to find your perfect bra size.
Choose the Right Style for Your Shape
Give yourself an assessment of your breast and body shape. How your breast tissue is distributed dictates the style of bra that works for you. Check out our Breast Shape Dictionary to identify your breast shape and find out what bra styles will work best for you.
Adjust the Straps Properly
Bras are adjustable. Make sure that the band is firm around your torso. Scoop all breast tissue into the cups and adjust the straps so that the cups are taut against your body.
Consider Half Sizes
If you find yourself between sizes, then half sizes could work for you. They can offer the perfect solution when one cup size is too small but the next is too large.
Upgrade Worn-Out Bras
Get measured regularly and toss out any bras that are worn out or no longer supporting you. Your body changes over time. Go for the upgrades and experiment with different shapes and styles.
