Our Story [Old]

If you’re like us, you’ve been frustrated in the past by the awkward process of getting a bra fitted. We have, too. Not only that, women everywhere are choosing from bras that aren’t designed for the diversity of real women’s bodies. When it comes down to it, that means 80% of us have been walking around in a bra that doesn’t fit.

Our team in San Francisco is committed to designing bras with you — and only you — in mind. Instead of using standard industry measurements, we developed our proprietary half-cup sizes based on thousands of real women's measurements. Every aspect of the ThirdLove bra has been reinvented to maximize fit and comfort, as we believe the best bra is one you never think about. We are so confident in our innovative design that we offer every woman the option to try our bras — for free — before buying.

The bra industry is dominated by a single company that has been pushing an antiquated male idea of what sexy is. Instead, we believe the world is ready for a modern woman’s idea of sexy. Be sexy for yourself, be comfortable, and be supported through your busy day at school, at work, as a mother, and all the other moments in between. Our mission is to empower all women to feel comfortable and confident every day, which is why we’ve donated over $3 million worth of bras to women in need across the country since we began in 2013.

For us, it’s not just about the bra — it’s about how you feel in it.

Heidi Zak, Co-Founder

A few years ago, Heidi left Google with the dream of building a new kind of bra company. Fueled by her passion for retail after stints at Aeropostale and McKinsey & Co, and frustrated with her own experience trying to find a bra that fit, she knew there was opportunity to reinvent the way women get measured and shop for bras. Millions of happy customers and great-fitting bras later, we think she might be onto something!

Ra'el Cohen, Chief Creative Officer

Ra'el began her love affair with lingerie design 15 years ago. While she mastered the art of fit, designing for several companies, she knew typical bra sizes didn't offer a solution for all women. After teaming up with Heidi, she began to develop a new sizing concept based on breast shapes, common fit issues, and measurement data from the app, creating what we think are the best-fitting bras out there.
