Her Story: ThirdLove's Own Gena, Tricia, Veronique, and Emmeline

There’s more to all of us than meets the eye.

To Each, Her Own is a celebration of who women actually are — not who they're told to be. Though we decided to use both models and real women in this campaign, they're all women who inspire us with their strength and vulnerability. Our series, Her Story, is a chance to get to know more about them, as well as ThirdLove’s own female leadership.

Meet four of our own ahead.

Gena Melinda Tomisser, 32E, Director of Brand Marketing

Veronique Powell, 32G, Head of Strategy and Planning

TL: How would you describe yourself in three words?

VP: “Independent, thoughtful, fierce (the fun kind).”

TL: What’s something most people might not assume about you at first glance?

VP: “I do the New York Times crossword every single day - it's one of my favorite ways to quiet my mind before bed. Pro tip: if you’re looking to get into crosswords, start on a Monday. The puzzles are easiest early in the week and get progressively harder until Saturday, which is the toughest.”

TL: What quality do you love most about yourself?

VP: “I can find humor in the most mundane things, and I have no problem making myself laugh. A weird shaped plant or funny noise can capture my attention for minutes (truly - my husband can attest to this). Upside: I’m never, ever bored. Downside: I’m usually the only one who thinks its funny.”

TL: When do you feel most beautiful and/or confident?

VP: “In dim lighting. (J/K!). I feel most beautiful draped in the brightest colors and with my hair at maximum, natural curly volume. I feel most confident when I’m operating in my role as a business woman and leader: I know my stuff, I trust my instincts, and when that confidence truly comes from within, nothing can stop me.”

TL: When and where are you happiest?

VP: “Bliss for me is the first cup of coffee on a Saturday morning, cozy on my couch with a blanket. The weekend ahead is still new and full of possibilities, and I can spend a few leisurely minutes reading the news, planning my day, or just doing nothing.”

TL: If you could give your younger self advice, what would you tell her?

VP: “You’re always going to be a million trillion times more critical of yourself than anyone else will be of you. The sooner you figure this out and get over it, the happier you’ll be.”

TL: What's the top song on your playlist right now?

VP: “Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend.”

TL: What does To Each, Her Own mean to you?

VP: “The ability to bust out of the narrow paths society has carved out for me as a woman and POC, even if it makes some people uncomfortable. No apologies.”

TL: What is your motto?

VP: “Done is better than perfect.”
