Behind the Design: Runway Looks That Inspired Fall/Winter
How does a design make its way from runway to everyday—and then into your lingerie drawer? A great question, and luckily the answer isn’t half as frightening as the blue sweater monologue in The Devil Wears Prada.
Our design team is always gathering new ideas, and the latest catwalk fashions are a tried and true source of inspiration. Here are a few of the runway trends that you’ll see reflected in ThirdLove’s latest pieces.
Stripes: A classic look, stripes are always guaranteed to be stylish. But recently they made a couture splash on the runways for both 2017 and 2018. We’ve always loved the way the way they combine playfulness and polish, so we brought a semi-sheer version of the look into our Seamless Stripe Collection.
Sheer fabrics: What’s more fun than the right amount of risqué? Sheer dresses and tops have been turning heads lately (and we’ve got the perfect bras to go underneath them). But it was in designing our bodysuit where we really translated this trend into something you’d actually wear. Ornate lace and sheer insets make it a fashion piece that’s comfy and so very versatile.
Reds everywhere: THE color of the Fall/Winter runways was red, in all its forms. Moved by the powerful color, we introduced Zinfandel as our newest hue for cooler weather. Three bras, underwear, our bodysuit, and even our Seamless Loungewear all come in Zinfandel. We’ll drink to that.
Athleisure: Talk about staying power; this is the look that just doesn’t quit. We’ve seen interesting takes on comfy-chic clothing for a number of seasons and the trend is holding strong. Our two Lounge Collections—Seamless and Organic Cotton—both draw inspiration from these high fashion looks, yet we’ve designed them in classic, universally-flattering styles you can wear anytime (but if you want to pair them with stilettos, we won’t stop you).
Our goal is to make pieces that are a blend of classic and current, sexy and smart, and above all, ultra comfortable. We’ll be introducing even more new pieces in the coming months, so watch the runways with us—after all, a hint of high fashion makes a great addition to your lingerie collection.
