4 Quick Ways to Update Your Beauty Routine for Winter
Winter is coming.
No, seriously, it’s right around the corner. And if you’re still living by the old adage that your skincare routine in May works in December, you might need a little beauty refresher. In fall and winter, the temps tend to drop, the air gets drier, and your skin needs a little added moisture. Now is the time to pump up the products!
Here are four of our favorite ways to pay a little extra attention to your beauty routine this season:
1. Invest in a thick nighttime moisturizer.
Winter weather can wreak havoc on skin, especially in super-cold climates. To avoid dry, peeling, or cracked skin this time of year, invest in a thick and hydrating night time moisturizer.
Girl on a budget? Try Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer: Rich for a dewy glow that your skin will drink up all night long.
2. Schedule a facial!
We hear you, the holidays can be hectic. Between extra work before you take off on vacation, traveling home for the holidays, and countless happy hours after work, the last thing you need is one more thing on your social calendar.
The next time you have a free Saturday morning, consider booking a restorative facial. Chances are, your skin could use the extra love—and we bet you wouldn’t mind having an hour to yourself in silence, either.
P.S. While you’re at it, consider taking an entire Saturday and double down on the self-care. We suggest scheduling everything from a mani/pedi to a facial and a haircut, to get it all done in one fell swoop.
3. Try a new, bold lip color.
Winter is all about deep reds and bold purples, so there’s really no better time to explore a punchy new lipstick than now. We love the NARS Slow Ride Powermatte Lip Pigment in London Calling, the perfect deep purple color for the season. Plus, this lip pigment stays on all day and doesn’t need re-applying—even through meals, drinks, and long meetings.
4. Drink lots (and lots!) of H20.
While lotions and potions can certainly work wonders, repeat after us: the best thing you can possibly do for your skin this year is to double up on your water intake. Shoot for the moon and set a personal goal of downing 100 oz. per day, which is about three of this BKR Liter Bottle. Keep one on your desk at work and one on your nightstand at home, and you’ll hit your daily goal in no time!
